Pokémon Gold and Silver Versions (Japanese: ポケットモンスター 金, ポケットモンスター 銀) are the successors to the first generation of core Pokémon games (Pokémon Red, Green, Blue Versions and Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition), with a new story taking place three years after the original games.

Released for Game Boy and Game Boy Color, they feature 100 more new monsters, bringing the total to 251 collectable Pokémon. This time the games takes place in Johto, but the original Kanto can still be explored. There are a total of 16 Gym Leaders (including 8 in Johto, 8 in Kanto), and badges to collect as well.
